Knit your own Crest of the Wave Lace Scarf using these clearly-written instructions by knitwear designer Jackie E-S of HeartStrings FiberArts.
This lovely lace scarf is named after its main pattern stitch "Crest of the Wave", a derivative of the popular Shetland lace stitch Feather and Fan or Old Shale. The main stitch area of graceful lacy waves is surrounded by a knit-as-you-go elegant ribbed openwork border.
Allow 500 yards of lace or fingering weight yarn for 14" x 60" scarf, or desired length with yardage adjustment. 4½ stitches/inch, size US 6 / 4.0 mm needles suggested. Main photo shown in Mountain Colors Winter Lace Junior, color Chinook. Charted and written stitch instructions.
